“Beyond CAD software: how Digital Design Communication will change the design world”
On Thursday, April 6, 2006, BAIA held its opening event. The San Francisco Italian Culture Institute hosted the evening. BAIA assembled a panel of executives and experts from leading players such as Actify, Autodesk, Microsoft and Novedge to discuss the revolutionary changes that Digital Design Communication (DDC) brings to design processes.
Thanks to DDC software, everyday applications and inexpensive hardware can become capable of reading and rendering complex, computer generated, design data.
DDC impacts manufacturing and distribution, reducing design costs and accelerating time-to-market. Eventually, DDC may lead to “personal design”, where users will design their own products.
“It is the mission of BAIA to host high profile business events that appeal to different industry sectors and have relevance for Italian and American businesses.
For its opening event, BAIA gathered a panel of leaders in the software industry, who addressed a diverse audience, including many industrial and architectural designers.
We believe the public appreciated this approach, and we look forward to presenting an equally interesting panel at our next event, where the topic covered will be related to venture capital culture” says Giorgio Ghersi, Executive Director of BAIA.
