Six months from its start, the DataPortability Project has advanced the conversation about user data rights. The project's volunteers have worked together to create the DataPortability Reference Design to document the best practices for integrating existing open standards and protocols for maximum interoperability. This should allow users to access their friends and media across all the applications, social networking sites and widgets that implement the design into their systems.
BAIA continues in its tradition to high level panel discussion by introducing a panel of experts in Data Portability to our audience in Silicon Valley. Join us on July 23 to understand, question and envision the future of the web as a platform.

    Italian Education as a Business:
the Rise of Italian schools in the Bay Area
    March 27, 2008 - 6:30 PM
    631 Ofarrell Street, San Francisco
The emergence of a new generation of Italian entrepreneurs and professionals in the Bay Area, coupled with a renewed interest in Italy as a global center of culture, have fueled the growth of various educational institutions, each with its own personality but all with one major element in common: a desire to make Italian culture part of our everyday life.
BAIA has assembled a panel of key representatives from Italian educational institutions in the Bay Area to discuss whether we are really living a Renaissance in Italian culture in the Bay Area, and what lies ahead for their businesses. BAIA will host a panel style discussion that will address questions such as:
    • Are we witnessing the beginning of a boom in Italian pre-school education?
    • How are educational institutions responding?
    • What role will social and economic factors play in the future?
    • Can a viable primary education business be made out of this?
    • Is there room for a pan-Italian school like the Germans or the French have?
    Event Panelists:
    • Marco Salardi - Italian Consulate Education Counselor
    • Rosella Pusateri - Girotondo Italian School (Marin)
    • Valentina Imbeni - La Piccola Scuola Italiana (SF)
    • Angelo Del Priore - Mondo Bambini (Berkeley)
